PFW Password - Summer 2007 Any company that has been around for nearly seven decades has seen its fair share of changes within the industry – and Scott Companies is no exception. Founded on November 1st, 1939, by Tom Scott when he opened Scott Truck & Tractor, Scott Companies has grown to offer agricultural, farming, forestry and construction equipment, parts and service throughout Louisiana and Arkansas as well as parts of Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Iowa and Nebraska. Not surprisingly, rentals have become a large part of Scott Companies’ success over the years.

Since getting into the rental business with the acquisition of its first construction equipment dealership in Monroe, Louisiana, in 1965, Scott Companies’ rental fleet has grown to include approximately 1,500 machines. While cranes and articulated trucks are among their most popular rental items, the Scott Companies fleet is made up of a staggering array of equipment designed to meet the needs of different industries.

“Being able to keep up with the movement of rental machines as an integrated process of renting, exchanging or returning machines is invaluable. When trying to manage 1,500 pieces of rental equipment, you must have a system that maintains accurate control of machine movement,” says Dennis Parker, who has been with Scott Companies for 34 years.

For Scott Companies, the system they use to manage their rental fleet is none other than PFW’s Dealership Management System and its robust Rental module, Rental Counter. While the majority of their locations use the classic, text-based, “green-screen” version of Rental Module, a sister company of Scott Companies, Scott Powerline and Utility Equipment, utilizes the latest, browser-based version of Rental Counter through the powerful IntelliDealer system. No matter which version is used, Scott Companies relies on Rental Counter.
